Non-intuitively, when you're using VMware vCenter 6.5 with Host Profiles, and you want to reenable hyperthreading on your cluster for whatever reason, it's not enough to disable the "VMKernel.Boot.hyperthreadingMitigation" parameter in the Host Profile (or set it to false). It has to be removed completely.
Only then VMKernel.Boot.hyperthreading = true will have an effect (or, for that matter, is it possible to save an HT Active setting in the GUI).
