Today I learned that the DB Connect app can do direct database lookups with SQL selects using | dbxquery - and in contrast to database outputs created in the DB Connect UI, these queries can be used in dashboard panels, using dashboard parameters in the SQL query string.

Maybe I should have read the documentation when I first used DB Connect a couple of years ago? (But then it's possible this wasn't available back then in version 1.x...)

I'm probably way too pleased with myself for having used this tiny bit of knowledge to build a proof-of-concept query interface to data in our old abandoned support ticket tool with Splunk in less than an hour of real work, just before leaving the office on a Friday afternoon.

But yeah, I'm real happy about getting that small kick into the weekend, even though it's been built on a whim with no one asking for it.
