Upside of having new glasses specifically for PC monitor distance: I'm now back to being able to use my right eye for working with the computer.
Downside: When using the RPi-with-small-display - setup, the monitor is more like at reading distance, and things are marginal.

Also I chose not to use multifocal lenses this time around, which may or may not work out (larger lens area with an undisturbed picture, but I may have to change glasses more often for other distances).

Shouldn't be a problem for working from home though, since I'm more or less looking at the monitor all of the day. Maybe take some notes on paper, but much less rarely than I used to do at work. No whiteboards, no people at variable distances in meetings.
