The existing socket could not hold on to the JiffyDOS module, so I replaced the socket with a high quality, round pin socket.
Next, in went the switchable ROMs. Fits perfectly.
Both the standard Commodore as well as the JiffyDOS ROMs seem to work OK.
Now for installing the switch and putting it all back together again...
So, running three lines of Ruby code via "bundle exec rails runner" takes about 20 seconds on my VM. (Ok, admittedly, the first line calls Sidekiq::Stats.new ...)
Is there any common way to speed this up?
(I mean, starting Mastdodon's tootctl basically suffers the same problem, but I don't need that as often...)
I'm planning a countdown to my 60,000th tweet on .
As part of this:
My novel "git commit murder" is Name Your Own Price at https://tiltedwindmillpress.com , with a minimum of $0.99.
My book "PAM Mastery" is *also* Name Your Own Price at https://tiltedwindmillpress.com , with a minimum of $0.99.
But you see it here first, because the fedi is cool.
Don't share this off the fedi until I announce it elsewhere, please.
I'm suspecting that most users:
Simply use the default layout.
Aren't aware columns can be aadded/removed, rearranged, or pinned.
Aren't aware that List and Hashtag colums can be pinned.
Aren't aware of Lists.
Have found Lists too cumbersome, possibly not discovering simpler management interfaces.
This suggessts usability, discoverability, and possibly evangelism or documentation opportunities.

@vfrmedia i love how manuals back then had someone coming up with actual artwork!
tandberg used to have little vikings all over their manuals, here's one i scanned years ago:
Stuff you can’t make up:
DoT magazine interview about DoH.
So, with the mastodon API, you can create an "Application" without auth, and you can do this over and over again. If noone actually uses any of these applications, they'll not show up anywhere apart from the database. Is there a way of cleaning these up, or are they magically cleaned up? #mastoadmin
...also finding a bunch of Friendica instances out there that are still active, but where I don't see any new posts past maybe Fall 2019 on here.
Oh yeah, that's when OStatus support in Mastodon was removed... 🤷♂️
I should not go through old post in general. Not dealing well with nostalgia right now (or ever).
Anatomy of a Disinformation Empire: Investigating NaturalNews
This report presents the findings of an extensive investigation into a network of domains connected to NaturalNews, a US-based commercial enterprise
and website promoting conspiracy theories and disinformation.
Using a combination of data analysis and open source intelligence (OSINT), this study examines the scale and nature of the NaturalNews network, including its reach on Facebook, its connections to and promotion of far-right and extremist ideology and its activities in relation to COVID-19 and the protests associated with the killing of George Floyd.
Did all the #retrocomputing people fall off the Fediverse, or is it just not something to write posts on, recently?
@neauoire step one of green tech - don't replace something that still works. Can't believe how so many people seem to skip that step.
